Dr Appointment

Ok, so I went to the Dr. and they don't think my esophagus is torn.  Kinda hard to diagnose that without a scope.  I may get a scope later, who knows.  But for now I have an upper abdominal ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow.  They want to rule out gall bladder disease and sludge in my stomach.  I guess it's common in pregnancy.  Who knew!  She doesn't think that it's my gall bladder but just wants to be cautious, since I describe some of the same symptoms.
Anyway, she diagnosed me as Hyperemesis.  But we will know more tomorrow after the ultrasound.  I hope anyway!

Ok, I found this on a website.  Kinda gives a little more detail of what Hyperemesis is.  Ok, bare with me I had to type this whole thing.  Wouldn't let me copy and paste!

General Discussion
Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is a rare disorder characterized by severe and persistent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy that my necessitate hospitalization.  As a result of frequent nausea and vomiting, affected women experience dehydration, vitamin and mineral deficit, and the loss of greater than 5% of their original body weight.

Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP), more widely known as morning sickness, is a common condition of pregnancy.  Many researchers believe the NVP should be regarded as a continuum of symptoms that may impact an affected woman's physical, mental and social well-being to varying degrees.  Hyperemesis gravdarum represents the severe end of the continuum.  No specific line exists that separates hyperemesis gravidarum from NVP; in most cases affected individuals progress from mild or moderate nausea and vomiting to hyperemesis gravidarum.  The exact cause of hyperemesis gravidarum is not known.

So did you all get all that.  Hope it makes sense. Not sure how they are going to treat me, but I'll keep ya'll updated!

So in other words they've come up with fancy terms to help remind you that you feel like crap and your pregnant and they are not sure yet how to help you not feel like crap. Aren't you glad you went to the doctor?

Hang in there girl! That lil' one will make it all worth it in the end. :)
